Discovering your online Markets.

Personal Blog. Aggrey Happy new year!
Embarking on the digital journey becomes challenging if one overlooks the unmistakable signs urging a shift to the online realm—an inevitability in today's world. The pandemic underscored such imperatives, vividly revealing the need for adaptation. Amidst the impactful May 2020 lockdown, I encountered a newcomer to my neighborhood: Hatwib. Inquisitive about his decision to relocate during such a challenging period, I discovered that Hatwib, a market vendor, sought proximity to the market, avoiding the arduous daily trek spanning approximately 10 miles from Nakawa Market to Bweyogere. The alternative was joining those who slept in the open market space, equipped, perhaps, with nothing more than a mosquito net, as portrayed in media narratives. However, the challenges extended beyond the mosquito-infested nights. Engaging in a lengthy conversation, Hatwib, an impressive young man with a determination to translate ideas into action, learned of my professional venture into Information Technology. Recognizing the potential synergy, we envisioned leveraging his on-the-ground insights to establish an online marketplace, resurrecting from the remnants of his previously failed company. In a nutshell, by the close of 2020, we successfully carved out an online presence, witnessing a burgeoning market and audience. Our footprint extended across platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and a published website. Notably, we earned recognition as standout entrepreneurs in the local market through an appearance on NTV Money and Markets. The narrative of a young man transitioning from garbage collection and water fetching for income to a successful digital entrepreneur is nothing short of captivating.
